It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-west of the market town of Pocklington and about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the village of Stamford Bridge. Low Catton lies on the east bank of the River Derwent. Together with High Catton, 1 mile to the east, it forms the civil parish of Catton. The church, dedicated to All Saints, was designated a Grade I listed building in 1967 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England.
